Review:


These essential oils are great for aromatherapy. I had the opportunity to test out Peppermint and Lavender.  Peppermint is great for reducing stress, appetite, and headaches. Lavender is great for night time relaxation .  Like I mentioned before, these are meant for aromatherapy and should not be consumed. 

To use it for headaches you are going to need a carrier oil grapeseed, almond, or olive oil. (sweet almond oil works great and is really moisturizing), a few drops of peppermint to prepare your solution. Then you just rub a  drop or so into your temple area.

Studies have proven the scent of lavender can help cure insomnia, anxiety, and overall restlessness that hinder our sleep patterns.

Lavender Pillow Mist to help you get a better night’s rest.

What you need:
2-3 oz. spray bottle
10-20 drops Lavender essential oil
1 oz. rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol or unflavored vodka are options)
1 oz. water
What to do:
  1. Fill your spray bottle with 1 oz. of water, 1 oz. of rubbing alcohol, and 10-20 drops of Lavender essential oil.
  2. Shake the bottle to disperse the oils evenly throughout the mixture.

Linen Spray 

  • 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) witch hazel or vodka
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 3 ounces (6 tablespoons) water
  • Small funnel
  • Spray bottle

 Other things to think about 


For a calming pillow/linen spray:
  • 15 drops chamomile and 5 drops lavender OR,
  • 10 drops chamomile, 5 drops sage, and 5 drops bergamot OR,
  • 10 drops rosemary and 10 drops lavender
For an energizing room spray:
  • 12 drops rosemary and 8 drops bergamot OR,
  • 10 drops peppermint and 10 drops lemon OR,
  • 10 drops bergamot, 5 drops orange, and 5 drops grapefruit
For a spray that beats the blues:
  • 12 drops orange and 8 drops grapefruit OR,
  • 20 drops grapefruit

If you still cant get sleep, try shutting down anything with blue light at least 1 hour before bed.  A program called "f.lux" can help you with automatic light adjustments on your computer relative to your physical region and amount of sunlight in that area.

If you still can not get sleep but it is because you have a lot of thoughts running in your head, try sleeping with a note pad beside your bed and writing all your thoughts down to get them out of your head and on to paper.  

If you still can not sleep, try taking 500- 750mg of GABA (its an Amino Acid- helps tell your brain to calm down and allows you to sleep, but not force you), 50-100mg of 5-HTP (Amino Acid- will work like a natural anti-depressant), 400-500mg of Magnesium 1hour before bed time with a full glass of water (also great for when you are really sore from a hard workout, will reduce your chances of waking sore, give you energy and works like a natural anti-depressant), 1,000mg of Potassium throughout the day, and 800-1,000 units of Calcium in the morning. Stay away from melatonin you will drag all day long in a mental fog!!! IF you follow this advice for a more restful sleep, then you should have more energy, focus, and clarity.

by adjusting everything I have described, you will surely get some rest, and better focus fo your future endeavors.

Yes this is an essential oil review, but if you are looking for a solution for sleep, I might as well cover some extra bases here.  If you can adjust and integrate essential oils, vitamins, supplements, light management together you will be much better off and get more restful sleep!! #essentialoils
